Medical & Healthcare

Primary Care

Headed up by Ralph Collett Managing Director of healthcare who is well established in the healthcare sector and has over 20 years in publishing and events.

The Primary care group has been built from exceptional relationships with most for the key opinion leaders and leading associations. Our team of sales, marketing and editorial have an expert understanding of the structure and direction of the healthcare economy ensuring each event delivers the best possible experience for healthcare professional and exhibitor. The group includes award winning events such as Health plus Care plus the flag ship healthcare event, Commissioning Show.

Secondary Care

The Secondary care group thrives in an area of healthcare that is under constant scrutiny and disruption.  With nearly £40bn being spent in secondary care in 2010, the healthcare reforms are looking for hospitals to transform their services to offer substantial efficiencies.  The secondary care groups boast of the largest cross specialty events for doctors, Acute and General Medicine.

Animal Health

Our flagship veterinary event was launched in 2009 and won the AEO Best Launch Exhibition Award in 2010. Rob Chapman who was a key member of the launch team for the London Vet Show which is now the biggest exhibition for veterinary professionals in Europe, is the MD for the global Vet Portfolio. We offer vets practical and relevant training with clinical programmes for small animal vets produced in partnership with the Royal Veterinary College and programmes for equine and large animals produced by our partners at the British Veterinary Association. In 2016 the event attracted over 5,000 vets and its opening day was the largest gathering of vets in the country. The show has also won Best Trade Show at the Exhibition News Awards twice (2015 & 2017).

In 2013 the company launched France Vet. It follows the same model as LVS with a highly practical and relevant small animal clinical training programme produced in partnership with Jill Maddison, Chair of the WSAVA CE Committee and Director of CPD at the RVC and Maison Alfort, France’s leading veterinary learning establishment. The launch event attracted 1,682 delegates and 100 exhibitors. In its second year the event will boast the biggest exhibition for vets in the French speaking world.

In 2016, CloserStill Media launched Deutsche Vet and New York Vet (in partnership with Clinician's Brief). Both following the same model as the London Vet Show and France Vet. Both first editions of these shows took place in 2017 and both delivered over 100 exhibitors and over 2000 delegates.

The Pharmacy Portfolio

Headed up by Matt Butler as MD of the Healthcare portfolio.

When CloserStill acquired the Pharmacy Show in 2008, it was a retail-focussed event with around 1,200 attendees and 120 exhibitors. In 2012, the Pharmacy Show won the ‘Best Trade Show’ accolade at the Exhibition News Awards and today the show is the only large-scale event for community pharmacy in the UK which in 2016 drew in more than 8,200 attendees and 370 exhibiting companies. Community pharmacy is big business with more 14,000 high street pharmacies generating more than £14 billion in retail sales and dispenses more than 1 billion prescriptions and will play a greater role in frontline delivery in the NHS as the reforms take shape.  Supported by all the sectors professional leadership bodies, the multi-streamed CPD conference delivers essential clinical and business education to pharmacy owners and teams from the independent and the multiples.  The Clinical Pharmacy Congress (Spring, London ExCeL) was created in 2012 to enable NHS pharmacists across UK hospitals, general practice and commissioning groups access to world-class CPD-accredited clinical education.  The show has remarkable penetration of universe with more than 80% of all NHS hospital pharmacy departments sending team members in 2017 as delegate numbers exceeded 2,500 and the number of exhibiting organisations exceeding 150 and as such CPC is widely acknowledged and respected as the most important event for clinical pharmacy in the UK.  Our sector expertise led us to acquire Pharmagora – the dominant community pharmacy event in France which takes place in April and drew in more than 8,500 delegates in 2017, with more than 350 exhibitors.  With France embarking on similar reforms to the UK, our unique event format and the introduction of a significant CPD education offering will allow us to grow the Paris-based event significantly.

Our unique CPD-accredited content-driven model has made many of our healthcare events a must-attend for healthcare professionals across a wide range of vibrant healthcare sectors. The dental sector is well served with events, but since we acquired a small niche dental conference in 2009 attended by 750 delegates, our combined dental events (the Dentistry Show and the Dental Technology Showcase) this year saw more than 7,000 delegates in 2017 and 12 education streams pack the NEC in Birmingham.

The British Dental Association and CloserStill Media announced a major new collaboration in September 2017, that will see the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show launched in May 2018.

The new collaboration of the BDA’s British Dental Conference and Exhibition, and CloserStill Media’s Dentistry Show, will take place on 18 to 19 May 2018 at the Birmingham NEC and will be the undisputed leader in dental events.

The BDA Conference & Exhibition has been running for over 100 years and is the BDA’s annual flagship event for its members and the wider dental profession. The Dentistry Show, will have been running for 11 years in 2018. The new event will now become the key date in all dental professionals’ diaries with over 10,800 visitors attending the two day event.

There are more than 37,000 occupational therapists who look after patients across the UK, mostly in their homes.  They are key specifiers and influencers with tens of millions of pounds of annual purchases of daily living aids and assistive technology on behalf of the NHS or patients.  There was no large-scale, free-to-attend CPD education event for the sector – so we launched the OT Show in November 2013 at the NEC in Birmingham to fill a much-need gap.  The inaugural event was a resounding success with more than 2,200 delegates accessing more than 37 hours of training and education and the ability to specify equipment and technology from 160 grateful exhibitors and now has over 4,500 delegates and over 200 exhibitors. In 2017 the show welcomed more than 4,500 OTs and 360 exhibitors.

In 2015, we also launched our very first Therapy Show alongside OT which attracts over 1500 therapists and over 120 exhibitors offering the latest in products and services required  by Therapists in the UK.

An exciting new addition to the healthcare stable in 2014 was Trade Days. With the UK’s ageing population and the focus on keeping patients in their own homes longer, suppliers and buyers of mobility, assistive technology and daily living aids needed a new kind of focussed event that allowed buyers from the retail and distribution channels to meet specialist suppliers.
