CloserStill in partnership with The Royal College of Surgeons launches new dedicated Future Surgery conference and exhibition

In close co-operation with The Royal College of Surgeons, following extensive sector research and with CloserStill Media’s impressive track record of launching leading healthcare events and exhibitions including Best Practice and the Clinical Pharmacy Congress, we are delighted to bring you Future Surgery, which will take place on 11th-12th November 2020, at ExCeL, London.

Future Surgery, a brand new conference and exhibition, aims to bring together approximately 1,500 delegates drawing from both surgeons and the perioperative care community.  Attendees will benefit from a programme of informative, educational and inspirational content that serves to encourage discussion, networking and professional development across all surgical roles and specialties.

The programme is being developed by an Advisory Board of specialists led by Mr Richard Kerr,  the Chair of the RCS sponsored Future of Surgery Commission, and will explore themes relating to the future of surgery including:

  • new technological advances including robotics, nanorobotics, machine learning and genomics
  • New team approaches to working and training
  • Perioperative Care
  • anticipated changes to the surgical careers and the way surgery is delivered
  • clinical training needs including human factors and ‘soft’ skills.

Andrew Reed, Chief Executive of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, said:

“This conference will be the first of its kind in the UK, drawing on the work our Commission on the Future of Surgery has done to predict the transformation in the medical care for millions of patients.

”Driven by changes in digital technologies and our fast evolving understanding of genomics, innovations are expected to affect how we undertake surgery, and how we train surgeons in future.

“Against that backdrop, the RCS firmly believes that now is the right time for the Future Surgery conference and exhibition as a gathering point for the profession. Alongside the conference organisers, CloserStill, we aim to deliver a high-quality event that will provide both professional development and discussion space for surgeons and their teams.

“We look forward to welcoming colleagues to what promises to be a very high quality programme and an exciting two days of thought-provoking training and engagement with medical suppliers.”

The Future Surgery Show will deliver a UK-wide audience of clinicians in secondary care; including consultant surgeons and anaesthetists, anaesthesia associates, Operating department practitioners, surgical care practitioners, advance nurse practitioners, operating room nurses, operating room nurse managers, theatre healthcare assistant, registrars, associate specialist surgeons, specialty/staff grade/career grade surgeons, specialist surgical registrar, core training doctor (CT1 and CT2) , foundation doctors (F1 and F2) from multi-disciplinary teams in the NHS and private hospitals
