CloserStill Media set to take Technology for Marketing and eCommerce Expo to next level as doors close on record-breaking 2017 event

With an unrivalled selection of industry suppliers and a speaker line-up brimming with globally-renowned thought leaders, Technology for Marketing and eCommerce Expo returned to Olympia London

LONDON, 29 September 2017 – Embarking on an exciting new venture between event organiser CloserStill Media and the industry association for e-retail IMRG, Technology for Marketing and eCommerce Expo opened for a storming two days of commercial activity and collaborative learning at Olympia London.

The event, which took place on 27 – 28 September, reconfirmed its position as the UK's largest gathering of marketing and ecommerce professionals – welcoming thousands of visitors and a hugely successful commercial showcase of 150+ leading suppliers.

Highlights in the SAP Hybris Keynote Theatre included an opening address from Martin Taverner, CTO of IBM Watson Customer Engagement UK&I, and IBM Watson Evangelist, Jeremy Waite. The experts discussed the future of cognitive computing and artificial intelligence in customer experience, and presented stunning examples of Watson working its magic to produce intelligent business insights.

New for 2017, the IMRG-backed 'Digital Customer Theatre' saw a host of headline speakers and practitioners from across the online retail space, including Richard Willis, Director of Digital Marketing at Mattel and Neil Roberts, Head of Digital at Eurostar.

Hosting a lively Q&A session, Ben Irons of notonthehighstreet.com, addressed an audience on the best approach for deepening customer connections and generating buzz via social media – 'Social media isn’t an addition – it’s a core part of our business strategy,' he noted.

The Content Marketing Theatre, sponsored by Extensis and sitecore, hosted an inspiring session delivered by Shazam's Director of Music Partnership, Jon Davies. Presenting a range of case studies from working with the likes of Asda and Samsung, Davies suggested how brands can better deliver robust and engaging mobile experiences by leveraging existing consumer behaviours.

The event was marked by bustling aisles, impressive conference streams and cutting-edge offerings of products and services from across the burgeoning martech landscape.

Speaking on the growth of the combined events, Director at CloserStill Media and Managing Director of IMRG, Justin Opie commented: "These are exciting times for martech and the market generally. At no time has innovation in this space been moving faster. We look forward to working with suppliers, users and industry players to help the event become the definitive and interpretive event for marketers looking to develop their strategies and make the most of marketing technology solutions."

Particularly happy with their two days of business, Lauren Holbrook, Marketing Manager of FIVE CRM, noted: "We just love the show! We've had a huge number of leads and some great conversations. Everyone is so eager to chat to us!"

Beth Motherwell, Field Marketing Executive UK at Brightpearl, added: "It’s been extremely busy on our stand, and it’s been great to meet with existing and potential partners as well as delegates. Being here gives us the chance to speak to everyone, catch up and arrange activity for the future. We don’t often get to have everybody we want to see in one room like this!"

Visitors alike, reported an action-packed event. Technology for Marketing delegate Julia Craigi, Account Manager at Mobilus said: "It is important to come here to keep up-to-date with what new innovations are emerging in the market and seeing the main players out there. The show has been fantastic and really great for catching up with old faces. The Keynote Theatre has been brilliant, especially the session on GDPR which is extremely important to us as marketers."

eCommerce Expo VIP, CEO at House of Kaizan commented: "It's been a really interesting event. I have come to absorb as much as I can from the conference and show floor. The number one thing I think about, day and night, is how we need to evolve to remain competitive – that's what I try and take from this event. Everything in the building is truly focused on how we connect and understand customers in a more efficient and effective manner."

If the 2017 event has anything to go by, CloserStill Media means business!
