Shapiro, the Portfolio Director at CloserStill Media, took over the position from Montgomery Group’s Philippa Christer. She will lead the network in its mission to empower women in the exhibition industry and nurture the next generation of female leaders.

“I am delighted to be taking over the reins of Women in Exhibitions UK along with senior board members Emma Barrett from Broadway Events and Rachel Swann, the COO of DMG. I want to be able to help steer, promote, and develop the next generation of women in this industry,” said Shapiro.

Shapiro is also a member of the Association of Event Organisers (AEO) Development Board and UK Organisers Working Groups, with more than a decade of experience in the exhibition industry.

She will lead Women in Exhibitions UK in the next stage of the chapter’s evolution through continued networking events throughout the year, training, and a year-round education programme for members. Shapiro is also a mentor in the chapter’s mentorship programme, which inspires and empowers women in the industry to support their growth and career development.

Women in Exhibitions UK launched in February 2020. Its current corporate membership includes Clarion Events, Montgomery Group, CloserStill Media, FESPA, Mark Allen Group, DMG Events, GES, Messe Frankfurt, ExCeL London, the NEC and more, in addition to individual members.
